Lliswerry achievements September/October

It’s been an action packed few weeks for the maroon and white army across a number of events. Here is quick roundup of all the fantastic achievements.

Swansea 10k- 18th September

17 club members took part in this popular event and a number of our juniors also ran in the junior 3k races which were part of our club championships. Lucas Salvage took the win in the 8-14yrs race with Vaughn Hughes a close 4th place. Great efforts from everyone who ran.

4 club members took part in the half marathon with another 4 in the 10k. First home for the club was Matt Creed and first home in the 10k was Sandra Chipper (also representing Wales in the Masters competition). Great running from all.

Berlin Marathon- 25th September

Flying the flag for the club in Berlin were two of Lliswerry’s finest. Our Ladies Captain and Vice Chair, Laud made the injury comeback of the year to run a fantastic 3:34 and Gavin Brace ran a superb time of 3:25. Well done both!

Cardiff Half Marathon & Junior events- 1st/2nd October

First up were the junior races on Saturday which were also part of our club championships. Our juniors loved juniors loved the 1 mile event and family fun run and a special mention to Lucas Salvage who was 2nd overall in the mile in 4:56 with 4 more of our juniors running under 6:30. Incredible efforts from our all of our mini superstars!

Sunday then saw 115 club members to take on the Half Marathon with many others out on the course supporting. First home for the club was Martin John in a speedy 1hr 22 mins. We also had several runners who helped out as pacers or volunteered as part of the extra miler’s team and their efforts were greatly appreciated.

Our junior runners had a blast at the 1 mile race.

Loving the race t-shirts this year!

Chester Marathon- 2nd October

Sarah Skuse was our sole club representative on this one. Her hard work and training paid off and Sarah was rewarded with a great run, coming home in 5.44.

London Marathon- 2nd October

Last but not least- the London Marathon. Our runners absolutely smashed it with a total of 18 club members taking on the challenge. Many were running off the Championship and Good for Age starts with others raising fantastic amounts for charities close to their hearts.

First home for the club (and in his first marathon!) was Nick Tulp in a storming 2:33. Nick bagged himself a silver medal in the Welsh Athletics Championship and Lliswerry legend Lizzie Dimond brought it home for the girls in a rapid 2:51. Many were completing their first marathon and there were great results across the board for the club. A big well done to everyone there!

Celebrating all our recent marathoners.
