Lliswerry Ladies Return to the Welsh Cross Country Championships

Saturday saw our ladies team make the trip west to Pembrey Country Park for the 117th Welsh Cross Country Championships.  In recent years, our ladies have performed well at these championships, so our small team comprised both previous medal winners and new club members making their debut at the championships.

Despite the blue skies and sunshine, as expected at Pembrey, it was ‘blustery’ with our ladies battling against not only their fellow athletes but a strong headwind, which seemed to worsen with every turn on a twisty course!

Our Senior Ladies (Nicky Collin, 10th, Antoinette Dumayne 13th, Emma Wookey 18th and Rachel Bowen 40th) took team Silver, whilst our Masters 40 Ladies (Rachel Bowen, 40th, Sarah Kembrey 76th, and Sarah Lauder 87th) took team Bronze.

Congratulations to all our members who ran and thanks to Welsh Athletics for hosting the event.  As the race calendar starts to fill up, 2022 is looking like it could be a strong season for Lliswerry Ladies.

  1. A great showing from Lliswerry Ladies & an amazing return to competition for Laud after a long period of recovery from injury. Well done all.
